3/4 Category Race:

The first race of the night was the 45 minute 3rd and 4th category race. With the overall series 1st and 2nd place not present and not able to ride the rest of the series due to promotion to the 2nd category, the series lead is wide open. 3rd placed in the series Matthew Taylor of Army Cycling took to the start line as the series leader.

At 15 minutes into the race we had the first prime, and this was won by Deacon Cutterham of Velo Club Bristol, followed by 1st Chard Wheelers rider George Whitlock, Daniel Burt, and SRCT Development Team rider Sean Adams.

At 30 minutes into the race we had the second prime, and it was won by Reflex Racing rider Caleb Moon who took the maximum points, followed by Charlie MacFadzean, Bristol RC rider Lui Pollastrone, and George Whitlock.

So the leader in the Sprints Points jersey goes to George Whitlock on 7 points.

The race was fast and not many break aways were given any lee-way, until Deacon Cutterham of Velo Club Bristol attacked with 6 laps to go. Sensing the danger of the move, Robert Pears of Bath Cycling Club bridged the gap to Deacon and the pair started working together. The pace of this pairing was too much for the bunch to reel back in and they stayed away until the finish. It was Rob Pears that took the victory ahead of Deacon Cutterham. Series leader Matthew Taylor of Army Cycling Union brought home the sprint for third.

Masters Race:

The overall leader of the series, Justin Hoy of Pronto Bikes, was in the Red Stimulus Sport jersey and the leader of the Sprints Competition, Frazer White of Pontypool RCC, was in the Green Stimulus Sport jersey.

The race started off with the neutralised lap, and as soon as the whistle blew the attacks were coming thick and fast.  First attack of the night was made by Bath CC’s David Stoyle and PDQ Cycle Coaching’s Johnny Hollier.  This was brought back, a lot of work being done by Pontypool RCC rider Frazer White.  Another attack once these were brought back, softened the bunch for what would then be the decisive counterattack.  The break consisted of the big hitters: Series Leader Justin Hoy, Sprints Leader Frazer White, 2022 Series 2nd place rider Steven Whitehurst of Reflex Racing, 2021 Series 2nd place rider Andy Edwards of FTP Racing, 2022 Round 1 winner Andy Hoskins of Cardiff JIF, Adrian Warren of Pronto Bikes, Niel Dunnage of PDQ Cycle Coaching and Graeme Lackford of Team Tor 2000.  All the series contenders and teams were represented so this looked to be the move.  Unfortunately Niel Dunnage and Graeme Lackford suffered for their efforts to ride across to this break and ended up back in the bunch, leaving 6 riders in the break working well together.

The break were away for the first prime, which was won by Sprint Leader Frazer White, from 2nd place in the Sprint Competition Steven Whitehurst.  3rd place over the line was Justin Hoy followed by team mate Adrian Warren.

The break was still away for the 2nd prime which again was won Frazer White, from Steven Whitehurst, Adrian Warren and Justin Hoy.  And so Frazer White extended his lead in the hotly contested Sprints Competition to 4 points clear of Steven Whitehurst in 2nd.

The break was looking set to last the distance.  The main teams were represented in the break apart from PDQ Cycle Coaching.  This meant that the chase lay on their shoulders to bring the break back before the finish for their best placed rider Tristan Stevens, who was lying 2nd overall at the start of the race.
